1. don’t compare the way things are now to the way things used to be. chances are you were just as miserable 5 years ago, during a snowstorm, in paris, with an ex, in the springtime, drinking a latte. chances are you’re only ever going to remember the best of the past and wonder why you’re not in that place again, and it’s not going to get you anywhere.
2. stop giving a shit about what other people are saying or doing. there will always be someone who is prettier than you, smarter than you, ignoring you, trying too hard for you, and bothering you. shut them out. sometimes it will feel like everyone in the world is out to get you with their mean words, but i promise you that they’re not. everyone in the world doesn’t have the time.
3. don’t associate with the people who make you sad. there’s no point and you’re only hurting yourself.
4. every day, there will be things that suck and things that are commonly precious. if you’re going to focus, focus on the latter. if it’s getting a little too difficult to breathe, take a “me” day. stay in bed. it’s okay to give yourself a break. it’s okay to admit that you’re tired. it’s okay. it’ll be okay. it’s okay. you are okay.
